What is Naturopathy?

Jay naturopath Kenya

On October 18th 2022, India and the world celebrated National Naturopathy Day. But what is naturopathy?

This alternative medicine uses natural remedies to help your body heal itself i.e. no drugs allowed. It includes massage, herbal medicine, acupuncture, hydrotherapy and nutritional counselling. When we correct our lifestyle & food habits, our body gets into a detox mode, removing all toxins and getting rid of the cause of any disease.

We spoke to Jayneesh Kumar aka Jay who’s as a naturopath, reflexologist, colon hydrotherapist & acupuncturist in Nairobi. After studying in India, he’s been practising through Pathak Natural Therapy. He explained to us some of the naturopathy therapies he practices and the diseases they heal.

CK: What’s your favorite healing modality?

Jay: My favorite is the colon cleansing because everything starts from the digestive system. So it’s very important. We have to clean the system every six months. So once we clean the system, all the organs work very well and you feel many differences in your body.

And what kind of people should come? Should people wait until they’re sick?

No, no, they can they can come if they are not sick. The colon cleansing is very good. Once your stomach is clean, everything goes smoothly and we can prevent so many diseases related to it.

And what’s reflexology?

Reflexology works to improve your organs and improve your meridians. So there are many good benefits of reflexology. You can do reflexology even if you don’t have any problem to maintain your health.

And what is it like?

Mostly I do it from the feet. Using my hands, I press each and every point that’s connected to the brain. Cupping is also good for blood circulation, muscular problems and gives you a lot of energy. Mostly sportsmen and swimmers like to do cupping so they can do better in sports.

Tell us about the different kinds of cupping

We do all types of cupping such as fire cupping. Another one is silicone cupping which is like a deep tissue massage. And then we do wet cupping which removes blood clots from the body, dead blood cells from the muscles, and improves the circulation. It also removes cholesterol and controls high blood pressure. It’s good for the heart, good for the respiratory system and good for blood circulation.

How about acupuncture?
Acupuncture is very good method for pain management. If you have a particular problem like kidney stones or gall stones, acupuncture helps a lot with those.

Okay is it painful?

No, not really. You don’t feel it when there is no pain because the needle is very thin and enters smoothly into the body.

And how can people get in touch with you?

Oh, they can contact me on my number 0722707755 or +10733998879 They can call me any time.
