The Kenyan premiere of the highly-acclaimed The Manic Monologues is coming to Nairobi’s Signature Theatre this October and is directed by award-winning actor, writer, and director Mugambi Nthiga, featuring a stellar cast of some of the most celebrated actors in Kenyan theatre.This groundbreaking performance showcases captivating stories from those touched by mental illness. You’ll hear true stories about struggle and pain but also triumph and joy. These diverse, moving narratives will greatly challenge your assumptions about what it means to live with a mental health condition.
Created by Zachary Burton and Elisa Hofmeister of Stanford University, and featuring thought-provoking monologues by renowned Kenyan actors Nyokabi Macharia, Charles Ouda, and Elsaphan Njora.
Mental health is taboo here in Kenya. The Manic Monologues aim to disrupt this silence and stigma.
