



A quiet haven of peace for those who wish to meditate.
Since 1999 Venerable Bhante Y. Wimala has been the head monk and the spiritual teacher of the Theravada Buddhist Center in Nairobi, Kenya.The Center is located in a beautiful suburb of Loresho, just a few miles away from Nairobi’s city centre. The centre was built by the George Phylnormel Foundation in memory of Mr. George and Mrs. Norma Perera. The premises consist of a residence for monks, a Meditation hall and a traditional Stupa. The centre is open every day from 8am to 6.30 pm for public. People of all faiths are welcome to use this peaceful sanctuary for self-reflection and meditation.
Sunday Meditation and Study Programme:
All are welcome to the Temple every Sunday afternoon for our weekly English-language programme.
2:00-3:00 pm: Beginners reading group meeting
3:00-3:45 pm: Guided meditation
3:45-4:30 pm: Discussion of a Buddhist text
4:30-5:00 pm: Community tea
4:30-5:30 pm: Advance study group meeting
Regular practitioners read a chapter of a book by a Buddhist teacher or a sutta (sermon by the Buddha) in advance of the Sunday class. To find out what the week’s reading is or for more information about the Center, please feel free to contact us by email
